The children in this group have lots of activities to take part in and the emphasis is on learning through fun. They have the opportunity to learn to mix with their peers and sharing and caring is high on the agenda. The daily routine includes play dough, jigsaw, beads, threading, cutting, painting, etc. The children are also introduced to their letters and numbers in preparation for school.

FREE TWO ECCE PRE-SCHOOL YEARS

We are participating in the free government funding pre-school years. The effect will be that eligible children will be able to enter the scheme and avail of two free pre-school years .

What are the free Pre-School Years in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE)?

The ECCE is a scheme designed to give children access to two free Pre-School Years of appropriate programme-based activities in the year before they start primary school. Participation in a pre-school programme provides children with their first formal experience of early learning through play, the starting-point of their educational and social development outside the home. Children who avail of pre-school are more likely to be ready for school and a formal learning and social environment.
